40% - Cant get into - might pick back up - 1st in series was great but seemed to do a 180 and not in a good way。 Almost like completely changing the buildup of first book。

I had higher hopes considering how much I enjoyed the first book。Giving it an extra star for Ansel。

I really like this series, but I do think this book was just here to stretch the story。 I really liked to be with the characters again, but nothing much happened during this book (expect the ending)。 I can’t wait to read the 3th book and I do hope there’s going to be more action scenes during the whole of this book。 3。75 ⭐️

The elements I personally fell in love with in the first book was not as well represented in the second。I want to emphasize that the lower rating is due to my personal taste and you may very well like this book a lot! There was a very specific trope in this book that I am not a fan of, that probably pushed me a bit further from the story。The pace of the first book was really good, in this second one, I found the pace a little bit lacking。 Looking back at the story I cannot really recall signific The elements I personally fell in love with in the first book was not as well represented in the second。I want to emphasize that the lower rating is due to my personal taste and you may very well like this book a lot! Overall, I loved this book。 I loved the characters the development - characters and plot - but there were moments I felt like I just wanted to rush past it。 Everything in the book contained an important point。 I just did not find myself liking this one as much as the first one。 Still adored every bit of it though。 Excited to continue and for a resolve。

This was so boring compared to the first one。 Why did they have to be camping out in the bush for half the book like a bunch of girl scouts ?!? I had to force myself through it。 Way too much plot, but at the same time nothing happened (how do authors always manage that???) and too many characters were introduced。 I literally had no idea who 75% of them were but slay I guess。 Although the cliffhanger was good。。 so maybe I’ll read the last one too for completeness sake。 I’m not a quitter。

Rating: 4/5 Stars*Tiny Sigh* Before you make your make your judgement, I still really liked this book。 I had just hoped that the level of enjoyment I had for the first book continued into this one。 Alas, it was kind of like drinking a hot chocolate。 It started off the perfect temperature and then slowly it begins to cool too much eventually getting too cold to be a good hot chocolate。 It’s not as if it becomes gross, it just doesn’t hit the same way。 I’m just hoping that the last book picks up a Rating: 4/5 Stars*Tiny Sigh* Before you make your make your judgement, I still really liked this book。 I had just hoped that the level of enjoyment I had for the first book continued into this one。 Alas, it was kind of like drinking a hot chocolate。 It started off the perfect temperature and then slowly it begins to cool too much eventually getting too cold to be a good hot chocolate。 It’s not as if it becomes gross, it just doesn’t hit the same way。 I’m just hoping that the last book picks up again, because you can in fact reheat a hot chocolate in the microwave and it becomes as good as new。Content Details:- Relationship Tension- High Stakes- New SpeciesWarnings:- Depiction of Murders- Mild Sex SceneWhat did I like about B&H?Okay, time for a quick fire round of all the things I liked that don’t take much explanation… GO!I really like the magic system and how there are different kinds of witches, but also the method in which it takes for Lou to access her magic。 I also really like the world that this is set in, I’m getting like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vibes, like open fields, forests but also towns & cities build with stone and brick。Let’s take a minute to appreciate Beau and Ansel。 I could ramble all day about these two, because they provide so much for the story。 Beau is great comedic relief, especially alongside Lou and Ansel being the youngest member of the group, provided the unfortunate sense of ‘oh shit’ by crawling into our hearts and making us fear for his life every time the stakes rose。 Love you long time Ansel。What didn’t I like about B&H?I wouldn’t say there was anything I didn’t like in regards to the story and the progression of the plot。 Even though my rating dropped by 。5, I still really enjoyed it, it is purely the fact is was lacking the first book ‘oomph’ – where everything is new and exciting, characters have only just met and are falling in love and the stakes are incredibly high。 One thing to mention is that the plot is pretty much the same。 Lou trying to stay away from her Mother and protect those around her。 The only difference is that Lou is only temporarily staying away from her mother in this book and that Lou can now use her magic a lot more than in the first book。Another thing that was a little annoying to read, was watching as Lou clearly began abusing her magic。 Not in a terrible way, but just in the fact that she kept overestimating the cost that it’s usage was having on her。 In saying that though, you could really begin to see the change in her thoughts as her persona darkened but also the struggle she had mentally when reminding herself of what her friends were saying – how she’s different and her magic is changing her。 (sorry folks, no exact quotes) I am one from some high steaks and bumps in the road, but all in all, I love a good happy relationship and Lou going all dark witchy woo is putting a spanner in her relationship with Reid…。 So no thanks。Ansel。 Iykyk。Also werewolves and mermaids? What the flibbertigibbet? So witches and witch hunters seemed realistic in this world… but then werewolves are added? And Mermaids are mentioned? It’s a fantasy book, I realize that but it reaches a point sometimes where it’s like ‘alright, you want the kitchen sink too?’。Whilst I really enjoyed the first book and slightly less-but still enjoyed the second, I am beginning to think that perhaps the third book will continue on the same path。 With all the repeating plots, I think it would’ve been best for the series to be a duology。Now, I can’t possibly end this review with it sounding so negative。 Blood & Honey was still a really good book – heck it’s bloody 4 stars。 It was just lacking the first book oomph that I mentioned。 It still contained great high intensity + high action scenes, it had great tension between Lou and Reid plus good budding friendships between everyone else。 Even more information was revealed about characters and the plot- speaking of which, the plot is actually really good。 The only down fall is that it seems to be very drawn out(which is weird, considering the book is fast paced) and repeated。 。。。more
